“BEO-GAM” Duck Hunter camouflage by KIFFE, a New York-based brand, made in Japan during the 1960s.

Interestingly, this fabric was also used by the Counterinsurgency Support Office (CISO) for early patrol caps. Based in Okinawa, CISO played a key role in supplying specialized clothing and field equipment to Special Forces personnel operating in Vietnam during the Vietnam War.

Today we honor Captain Gerald Austin Brown, of Fort Worth Texas, who served with Advisory Team 33, Headquarters, Military Assistance Command Vietnam Advisors, Military Assistance Command Vietnam (MACV). Gerald was fatally wounded on May 16, 1967 in the Darlac province of South Vietnam. He was 25 years old.
