After Belgium fell to German forces in 1940, many Belgian soldiers escaped to the United Kingdom, where they formed the Belgian Independent Parachute Company. In 1944, this unit was officially integrated into the British Special Air Service as the 5th (Belgian) SAS. This shoulder title, dating from late World War II, was reportedly worn by members of the 5th (Belgian) SAS.

This one was gifted to me by Ken Conboy, and verified by a military memorabilia expert @who_dares_collects

“By the end of 1944, beginning 1945 a arm title “SAS”, white letters on a maroon background, appeared, and was worn until the reintegration into the Belgian Army, beginning 1946.” — Source from be4046.eu

One response to “Late WWII 5th (Belgian) SAS Shoulder Title”
Sorry but the SAS shoulder title shown is not a wartime example. Whoever verified it is mistaken.
