Brimob Deployment to Timor Timur, 1979-1980 from pak RGB Soetrisno

The pictures below are part of RGB Soetrisno’s collection, personally taken by him during the Brimob deployment to Timor Timur in 1979-1980, which he oversaw.

These are incredibly rare photos, and I’m deeply grateful to Pak Satyanugraha for allowing me to scan them.


Photo caption: “LMG Browning M1919A1 dan Mortir 50” masih diperlukan utk tugas operasi seperti di Tim-Tim ini, juga Bren MK IV senapan LE.MK I No. 5 diganti dg A.K., Ex KKO, karena KKO sudah pakai M16. Foto diambil di pelabuhan priok I 1979-1980.”

Translated: LMG Browning M1919A1 and 50″ Mortar were still needed for operations like those in Timor Timur, as well as the Bren MK IV and LE.MK I No. 5 rifles, which were replaced by the AK, ex-KKO, because KKO had already switched to the M16. The photo was taken at Priok Harbor in 1979-1980.

Translated: Confident faces unafraid of the dangers threatening them in Timor Timur, as these Brimob companies are highly experienced in combat.
