Mystery solved ✅✅ I bought this short-brim camouflage boonie hat in April, not knowing much about it except for the faded ‘PUSTF’ on the tag and the star — which suggested used by the Army.

Recently, I connected with a veteran, pak Husein from Yonif 731/Kabaresi. He showed me an exact photo of this hat worn during the Timor Timur deployment from May to December 1981. I’m thrilled to finally identify it!

And also, im writing for my upcoming project Timor Timur: Memoirs from the Front 1975-1999, and finding the exact bush hat being worn. This one from Yonif 405/Surya Kusuma.

This pattern comes from IFGABA camouflage, but the colors are unique—one of the best-kept camouflage secrets from the Seroja operations.
