In 1962, the initial Freefall group was trained by Yugoslavians including Mladen Milicetic, Stoyan Jovic, and Dobel Stanej.

It requires students to finish 36 static-line jumps before enrolling in the freefall course. Since its inception in 1962, the design of the Army freefall badge has remained unchanged.
