RT-28 reconnaissance photos, taken in MR 2 in northern Laos.

Four RT-28 reconnaissance photos were taken in Military Region 2 in northern Laos. Given by LTC William Ritchie, Project Waterpump Commander from 1967-1968 to Ken Conboy. Project Waterpump was a secretive support operation by the U.S. Air Force to train and nurture the Royal Lao Air Force (RLAF) into existence.

A few of the T-28 supplied to the Royal Laotian Air Force (RLAF) were specifically used for reconnaissance and were designated as ‘RT-28’. These aircraft had cameras mounted under the fuselage to take photographs during their flights, providing the RLAF with a modest capability for reconnaissance.

These particular photos, for a flight in MR 2 were piloted by Americans — MOBY DICK SORTIE 523 21MAR68.
