Jungle Jacket: Major Daniloff

Jungle jacket belonged to Major Frederick Donald Daniloff.
Unfortunately, he was killed in an OV-1 Mohawk airplane test at Ft. Rucker in 1974.

As for the jacket itself, I believe it was worn when he was a Company Commander of the 191st Assault Helicopter Company from 3 Sept 69 – 27 Jan 70.

It’s a later 3rd pattern ripstop model with custom-added epaulets by a Vietnamese tailor.

AFAIK, this jacket is from the Late lan Phillips collection since 80s.

  • Direct embroidered name, US Army, aviator wing, jump wing, major rank, and engineer branch.
  • Unit Patch: Subdued 1st Aviation Brigade w/ theater-made Ranger tab unit patch. Update: it’s surprisingly very rare 1st pattern subdued twill Ranger tab.
  • Combat Patch: Full-color merrowed 101st Airborne combat patch.

Very honored to have this in my collection.
